ZOO helps bring contemporary dance to a wider audience
As a prologue to an educational DVD that ZOO/Thomas Hauert are planning to produce by 2011, the company will be running an outreach programme to bring contemporary dance to young people from seven schools and extracurricular establishments in the Belfort area and Jura in Switzerland. Organised in collaboration with the Centre chorégraphique de Belfort (France) and the AICC (Switzerland), the workshops given by Thomas Hauert and Zoë Poluch between November 2009 and March 2010 will focus on the possibilities of individual body movement, the coordination of bodies within the space and the relationship with music. Incorporating a training day for teachers and setting up an exchange network on the internet as well, the project will conclude with a final meeting between the different groups. The young people and teachers will also have the opportunity to see “Accords” by ZOO/Thomas Hauert at the Théâtre de l’Espace de Besançon on 12-14 January 2010.
